During middle school, Mica was a member of the Townsend Stars Dance/Drill Team. With this team, she competed in Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) Nationals in Disney World. At the UDA camps, Mica was selected for the UDA All Star Dance Team several years in a row. Mica was a Varsity Cheerleader throughout her high school years, and was captain of the squad for two of those years. This began her career in choreography. Thereafter, she attended the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana and was a member of the elite UM Dance Team for two years. During the summers off of school, Mica worked for the world’s largest international children’s touring company, Missoula’s Children’s Theatre, as a tour actress/director. Traveling over 14,000 miles and working in 16 different places around the Midwest and Southwest United States, Mica taught hour long musical productions and theatre workshops to over 1,000 children ranging between ages five and 18. In addition, Mica performed in several community theater productions; including Paint Your Wagon, The Wiz, My Fair Lady, and Cats. Mica was also the assistant director for the production of Oklahoma! at the Missoula’s Community Theatre. Although she had taught dance as a substitute teacher for several years, Mica’s most recent full-time dance employment was instructing at Jean’s School of Dance in Polson, Montana. Here she taught all levels of jazz, hip-hop, choreography, musical theater, pre-cheer, tap, and young dancers’ ballet. At their recital, Mica had over 20 pieces she personally choreographed. During this time, Mica was a co-coach and head choreographer for the local Varsity Cheer Squad. Mica recently earned her B.A. in Elementary Education with high honors. She is excited to meet her new students, dance, and teach at All That Dance! Last year, Mica coached the National Award Winning Hip Hop Team and can't wait to start the process again. This fall, Mica will be continuing her pursuit in earning a Master Degree in Special Education at the NAU graduate school. She is thrilled to be joining ATD for a second year to see returning faces and hopefully meet some new students! |
